Young Watford striker Liam Henderson has gone on loan to his former side Hartlepool for three months.

Henderson was in the League One side’s Centre of Excellence when he was snapped up by Watford and Pool’s caretaker boss Chris Turner has hinted that they may try and make the move permanent.

Speaking to the club’s website, Turner said: “Liam comes highly recommended to us - he’s a player who used to be at Hartlepool and was poached by Watford away from our Centre of Excellence.

“He has done extremely well down at Watford and when the opportunity came for us to have a look at him, we quickly took it.

“Liam has played in the Championship and we are going to take a look at him over the next three months.”

Watford manager Brendan Rodgers said he was happy for the youngster, who was born in Gateshead, to return to the North East as he looks to reduce the size of his squad.

However, the Hornets do have the option to recall the 19-year-old at any time.

Henderson has made six substitute appearances for the Golden Boys this season, since his debut against Darlington in the Carling Cup in August.

Hartlepool, who are 15th in League One, have been struggling with injuries of late with Joel Porter, James Brown and Michael Mackay all out.
