Jon Harley has returned to Watford’s London Colney training ground to link up with the Hornets for pre-season training.

Harley was released by Watford last month but has joined his former team mates for pre-season, although manager Malky Mackay said the idea of re-signing the former Chelsea and Fulham defender has not been discussed.

Mackay explained: “Jon phoned me up and asked if he could come and do a bit of pre-season training while he is still down here, as his family are moving back up to the North West and he is currently considering the next part of his career.

“He asked if it was possible to come in and do that and it was not a problem as far as I am concerned because he is a model pro and a good man as far as I am concerned.”

When asked whether there was a chance of Harley re-signing for Watford, Mackay replied: “No it is not something that is being talked about at the moment. He is looking at the next part of his life and where he is going to stay with his family.

“He is considering a lot of that stuff at the moment and in the meantime if I can help him out then I will.”

Harley started his career at Chelsea and signed for Fulham, Sheffield United and Burnley, as well as enjoying loan spells at Wimbledon and West Ham United.
