Jon Harley says it was hard to leave Watford but is looking forward to “getting stuck in” at Notts County after agreeing a move to the League One side.
Harley was a Hornets fans favourite following his move from Burnley in 2008 but was released in the summer as the Hertfordshire club continued to cut costs.
The 30-year-old has agreed a two-year deal at Meadow Lane and will become the club’s fifth signing of the summer if he passes a medical, as expected, early next week.
"I am delighted to be here,” Harley said.
“It's always hard leaving a club and I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Watford, but I am relishing the challenge here at Notts County next season.
"I was impressed by what the manager had to offer and I'm just looking forward to getting stuck in now and helping the club continue their forward momentum from last season."
Harley will not be joining up with the squad on their pre-season trip to Austria but will have his medical when they return early next week.
The midfielder, who can also play at left back, started his career at Chelsea and signed for Fulham, Sheffield United and Burnley, as well as enjoying loan spells at Wimbledon and West Ham United.
