WATFORD turned on the style in the second-half to keep their 100 per cent pre-season record intact with a 5-2 victory at Boreham Wood on Saturday, July 29, but only after surviving a scare.

Like in their previous two games against Northwood and Wycombe, the Hornets were caught cold in the opening minutes when Darrell Cox headed in from a corner.

Worse was to follow around the 20-mark when Cox notched his second after another Wood set-piece had caused problems for the visiting defence.

But Watford got their act together after the break and within eight minutes of the restart had turned the game on its head with goals from Ashley Young, triallist Tamas Priskin and Marlon King.

Substitute Darius Henderson then made it four before Priskin completed an excellent afternoon's work with his second of the game.
