JAMES Henry has urged Oxford United to show a cutting edge in front of goal at the Ricoh Arena this afternoon.

The U’s take on play-off chasing Coventry City, bidding to boost their survival hopes with only a second victory on the road in Sky Bet League One this season.

United head into the fixture a point above the bottom four, courtesy of last week’s dramatic win over fellow strugglers Bradford City.

But Karl Robinson’s side were only able to convert one of several chances against the Bantams as they struggled to turn a dominant display into a convincing victory.

Top-scorer Henry, who has not found the net for two months, knows United can ill-afford to waste their opportunities when they face Coventry today.

He said: “We got the result last week, but we’re slightly disappointed, myself included, with our finishing.

“I saw the stats, we had something like 25 or 26 shots and probably didn’t test their keeper enough.

“It’s good we’re getting into those positions to create chances – now we need to work on making sure we finish them.”

The 29-year-old added: “It’s not every game we’re going to get 26 shots and one finally goes in.

“We might only get three or four and we need to be a little bit more clinical.”

Henry is in line to make his 50th appearance of the season today – the highest number of games he has played in a single campaign.

The midfielder admits he is feeling the effects, but is ready to roll up his sleeves and help United try to move further away from the drop zone.

He said: “I would be lying if I said I wasn’t tired and my body wasn’t sore, but there’s eight games to go.

“I’ve still got more in my legs to keep going and hopefully steer us clear.”

United have no fresh injury concerns, but are without Gavin Whyte and Jonte Smith, who are away on international duty with Northern Ireland and Bermuda respectively.

Conor Chaplin (ankle) is sidelined for Coventry, but Luke Thomas is likely to be fit after suffering a facial injury against Peterborough.
