The latest edition of Watford FC podcast ‘From the Rookery End' is a ‘youth special’ taking a look at the club’s policy of developing its own players.

This month’s issue focuses on some of the younger members of the Watford squad, including interviews with Dale Bennett and the club’s latest professional Adam Thompson.

'From the Rookery End', which is created by Watford fans Jon Moonie, Mike Parkin and Jason Bailey, also features an interview with one of the men who have helped some of the young players get to where they are today, assistant Academy director Nick Cox.

Co-presenter Parkin said: “It’s almost impossible to ignore the fantastic work that goes on at Watford when it comes to bringing through young talent. We see some of the fruits of their labour on a regular basis with Ashley Young playing for England and the likes of Aidy Mariappa and Lloyd Doyley featuring for Watford. But we wanted to get a real feel for how those youngsters are brought through and nurtured.

“In talking to Nick Cox we got a truly valuable insight into the work done at the Harefield Academy and Adam Thompson was able to tell us exactly what it is like for the players, having been there since 2007.

“It was great to be able to talk to Adam so soon after signing his professional contract, it clearly meant a lot to him having worked so hard for so long.

“We were also among the few fans to witness a recent Watford win, having seen the excellent Under 18-s beat Reading 3-1. Judging from what we saw and heard, the future is definitely looking bright and we are genuinely excited about what the club is achieving."

Also within this month’s podcast is a chance to find out what happened to the 'scoreboard men' from the old Vicarage Road scoreboard and you can enjoy an alternative take on the club’s annual report.

To top it of you can hear what the boys think about what's been happening on the pitch over the last month.
