A spate of criminal damage on 28 cars is being investigated by police.

Between December 31 and January 3, 28 cars were damaged including slashed tyres, scratched bodywork, smashed lights and in one case, a soft top was ripped in Harpenden.

The areas affected included Southdown Road, Gorselands, Queens Road, St John’s Court, St John’s Road and Station Road, and the majority of the damage is believed to have taken place between 11pm on January 1 and 6am on January 2.

Hertfordshire Constabulary has released CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to.

Safer Neighbourhood Sergeant for Harpenden, Chris Thomas said: "I would ask anyone who may have witnessed someone acting suspiciously or causing damage to a vehicle in these areas, or who may have information which could assist the investigation, to contact police as soon as possible."
