School leavers achieved the second highest percentage of A* grades in the school's history.

A total of 27 per cent of the A Level grades achieved by St Albans School Sixth Formers this year are A* grades.

This is the second highest total in the school’s history. Seventeen pupils achieved at least 3 A*s.

Meanwhile, 34 candidates gained at least 2 A*s and 78 pupils gained at least 1A*.

Furthermore, 88 per cent achieved A*-B grades, a widely-recognised measure of A Level success.

This year, A* and A grades account for two thirds of all grades.

Jonathan Gillespie, headmaster of St Albans School, said: “This year’s outstanding A Level results, the majority of which have been achieved in the more demanding new A Level specifications, once again reflect the strong commitment and dedication shown by our Sixth Formers and our teaching staff.

"I congratulate all our leavers and wish them every success in the future.”
