Businesses were left wrecked after two men were spotted breaking into buildings.

Two men from Stevenage, one aged 26 and the other 52, were arrested on Thursday (January (0 following a suspicion of burglary and criminal damage at a business in London Road, St Albans.

This happens after two men were spotted acting suspiciously at two businesses by CCTV operators at St Albans City and District Council.

Both businesses were damaged.

Councillor Chris White, leader of St Albans City and District Council, said: “This is another example of the effectiveness of our City Centre CCTV system in making our streets and businesses safer.

“The CCTV operator is to be praised for spotting suspicious activity.

“It’s also an example of the excellent working relationship we have with Hertfordshire Constabulary who were quickly alerted to the incident and were able to make very swift arrests.

The two men have been released under investigation as further enquiries continue.
