Bessborough maintained their unbeaten start to the season in Middlesex Division One after sharing a point with Crouch End in a rain-affected match.

Bessborough were put in to bat and started well with captain Danny Hawes scoring 38 while fellow opener Tharshan Kanagajaraj helped out with 24.

The heavens opened though and 32 overs were lost as a result. When conditions dried up, Bessborough lost wickets at a regular interval and set Crouch End a target of 117.

Crouch End had 13 overs to chase down their target but could only make 61 for six. Rohan Karkhanis and Jay Chavda were the tormentors in chief as both took three wickets.

The weather had meant Crouch End were unable to face the minimum number of overs required so the teams received a point each.

In Division Three, Bessborough Seconds' match against North London Seconds was abandoned after 26 overs due to rain.

The bad weather proved to be the saviour for Bessborough who were struggling after falling to 64 for five. North London won the toss and put Bessborough in and the North London bowlers made the batsmen toil on a pitch that helped the seamers.

In Middlesex 1987 Cricket League Division One, another match was abandoned because of rain as Bessborugh Thirds drew with Teddington Fourths. The game had looked set up for a great finish as Bessborough were 158 for nine chasing down Teddington’s total of 179.

Bessborough leg-spinner Dillon Mahoney was the pick of his side’s bowlers as he recorded figures of four for 50. Openers Priyatharshan Sathanathan and Cecil Dinesh both scored 46 for Bessborough to get the chase off to a good start but wickets began to fall as conditions worsened.

In Chess Valley Cricket League Division Three, Bessborough beat Welwyn Garden City by five wickets.

Bessborough won the toss and elected to bowl which looked to be a great decision as they skittled Welwyn out for 111. Rohan Desai (five for 37) and Mark Emmanuel (three for 15) were the star performers in a good bowling performance.

It took Bessborough just 22 overs to reach their target thanks in part to a 107-run partnership from James Wheeler (55 not out) and Kibreeth Rameez (36 not out).

Bessborough Fourths did not have a league games this week so instead played Wealdstone Corinthian in a friendly.

It was the third encounter between the two sides this year and Corinthians posted a score of 145 off their 35 overs.

The Bessborough reply never really got going as they were bowled out for 92 with just one ball remaining in their 35 overs and lost by 53 runs.
