As work continues to demolish buildings at the old Westfield School, we’re looking back at pictures of it being built back in 1961.
Now known as Westfield Academy, a new school building was opened at the Tolpits Lane site in November as part of a £25m development which includes a new 3G sports pitch, 65 classrooms, a theatre and a library.

In head teacher Tim Body’s latest blog on the school website, he said it “wasn’t nice” to see the old site being demolished but explained it would lead to landscaping work starting in the summer.
He added: “This is necessary as the space available to the students at break and lunch isn’t what I’d like.”
