Nordin Amrabat has become the second Watford player to leave on loan for Spain tonight after joining Leganes for the 2017/18 campaign

The Moroccan international had been included in the Hornets' 25-man squad published on the Premier League website this evening, but he has followed Costel Pantilimon in moving to La Liga on a season-long deal after the goalkeeper joined Deportivo La Coruna.

Following Amrabat's departure, the club have confirmed that he was included in their 25-man Premier League squad submitted earlier today.

However, in a key footnote on their website the club state: "The squad list is subject to change with approval from the Premier League Board due to other federations' transfer windows remaining open until later dates".

This means Mauro Zarate, who was not included in the 25-man squad submitted, could replace Amrabat if approval is granted.

The Hornets have also confirmed that Craig Cathcart was left out of the Premier League squad as a result of the knee injury he sustained against Brighton and he will now undergo surgery.

“Craig has had his knee assessed by three specialists and we are in agreement that surgery is the best course of action to give him the best and quickest recovery period” performance director Gavin Benjafield said.

“He will have surgery early next week and then begin an intensive period of rehabilitation.”

Since moving to Vicarage Road in January 2016, 30-year-old Amrabat has made a total of 48 appearances in all competitions without scoring a goal.
