A Watford football club has unveiled brand new kitchen facilities to allow its clubhouse to better serve its community.

Everett Rovers Football Club is now set up to offer an improved social space at its Dodd Road location as part of a wider three year £3million investment programme.

It aims to make the clubhouse a hub of social activity where supporters can enjoy a cup of tea, club volunteers can dry off, and players can celebrate or commiserate after games.

Everett Rovers FC was one of 450 grassroots clubs to benefit from the Howdens Game Changer Programme to improve clubhouses.

Club vice chairman David Preedy said: “The club was founded in 1997, in 2016 we managed to secure a 30-year lease on the land and built a club house that opened in 2018.

"Despite having limited funds to fit the kitchen out, we were determined to provide a communal space for our community.

“Therefore, through fundraising and events over past four-to-five years we’ve slowly been buying mix and match cupboards and tables to keep us running.

“The newly fitted Howdens kitchen is going to give us a full working kitchen to allow us to serve locals.

“It will create a new revenue stream as we can be more productive with a better working space and quality appliances.”

Everett Rovers has 28 youth teams as well as three men’s and one women’s team at the adult level. It also hosts its pan-disability team which is the largest inclusive youth club in Hertfordshire.

Richard Harding at Watford-based R Harding Builders was in charge of the fit-out.

FA director of football development James Kendall said: “We’re thrilled to see yet another club benefit from our Game Changer Programme in partnership with Howdens.

“We know how valuable facilities are to clubs like Everett Rovers FC which is why we look forward to continuing to work with more grassroots clubs alongside Howdens, to ensure they are sustainable while benefiting local communities across the UK.”

The Howdens Game Changer programme was launched in 2023 by football legends Jill Scott and Chris Kamara.
