Graffiti - including the words ‘fix me’ - has been scrawled along pothole-riddled streets in Watford.

The markings have appeared in roads on the Radlett Road estate although the person responsible for making them remains a mystery.

One of the markings is in Brocklesbury Close and states in red capital letters “fix me”.

Other graffiti has also been scrawled over holes in the road in an apparent bid to grab the attention of Hertfordshire County Council.

It turns out both Brocklesbury Close and Raphael Drive are scheduled to be resurfaced in October.

Work is due to take place between October 17 and 20, with Hertfordshire County Council shutting the roads between 9.30am and 4pm on each day.

This is not the first time people in Watford have gone to measures like this to get potholes fixed.

In 2017, a rather more obscene example of graffiti appeared when a penis was drawn around a pothole in Fearnley Street, along with the words ‘fix me’.

Responding to the Radlett Road markings, a spokesperson for Hertfordshire County Council said: “We would encourage residents to report any problems on the highway to us online at www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/highwayfaults to ensure that they are in our system. Even if we can’t repair them immediately, we can use the information to help us plan our maintenance programmes.

“We are aware that works are needed in this area, and there are works planned in October for Brocklesbury Close and Raphael Drive. Notices will be put up on site and information bulletins delivered to residents soon.”
