A fleet of 58 gritters are on standby this evening as the temperature is set to drop.
Hertfordshire County Council confirmed that if temperatures fall between 0.5C and 3C then crews are placed on formal standby to go gritting.
This evening and the early hours of the morning, the Met office says that the East of England could drop to 2C, with Watford hovering around 3C.

A council spokesperson said: “With regards to tonight (November 30) our current forecast suggests we will be on standby but may be required to go gritting as the road surface temperatures are falling marginally.
“This will be monitored throughout the day and night as standard, so the picture may change as the day goes on.”
HCC confirmed that to date, teams have been sent out twice on the evenings on November 20 and 22.
When the weather is forecast to fall below 0.5C the council said it is required to send crews out to grit the roads.
