Young film makers can win the chance to have their work screened at Warner Bros. Studios.

Watford Palace Theatre has announced that submissions are now open for Hertfordshire Film Festival 2022.

The film festival will be screened at Watford Palace Theatre on February 16 and 17, 2022.

As well as showcasing the young filmmakers’ creations, it will include talks, networking events and masterclasses from leading film and TV industry figures.

With support of Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, the festival is offering the next generation of Herts-based filmmakers an opportunity for their work to be screened at Watford Palace Theatre.

The festival is now open to short film submissions, from anyone aged 11 to 25 and living, studying or working in Hertfordshire.

It is free to enter and a range of genres, themes and styles of film are welcome. The key is a strong story, simply told.

For those aged between 11 to 17, films can be up to eight minutes long, and for those between 18 to 25, films can be up to 15 minutes long.

The prize for the best film for the 11 to 17 year-olds is an industry screening at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, when it is safe to do so, and a family ticket, two adults and two children, to the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London: The Making of Harry Potter.

Emily Stillman, SVP Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, said: “We are delighted to be supporting this fantastic festival and I’m really excited to see the pieces created by Hertfordshire’s emerging film talent.”

The 18 to 25 year-olds will also receive an industry screening at the studios, plus lunch with Dan Dark, Executive Vice President Warner Bros. Studio Operations, on his next UK visit.

Dan Dark was recently named in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list and made an OBE for his service and contributions to the UK film and TV industry.

Associate Director James Williams added: ‘We’re delighted to be partnering with Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden to screen the next generation of filmmaking talent from across Hertfordshire here at Watford Palace Theatre.

“There are some incredible opportunities on offer at the festival and we can’t wait to see the stories people are wanting to tell on film.”

Submissions can be entered until December 20.
