The organisers of Watford's Stage in the Park have voiced their delight ahead of opening later this month.

Daniel Clarkson and Chris Wheeler, founders of Harlequin Theatricals, are organising Stage in the Park alongside Watford Palace Theatre and the borough council.

The 500-seat outdoor venue, which opens from July 23 to August 8, will showcase a range of theatre, comedy and other live venue performances in Cassiobury Park.

There will also be food stalls and a licenced bar.

Daniel and Chris said: ”Following the Government’s announcement we are thrilled that The Stage In The Park remains on course to open this summer in Watford.

Brigid Larmour, artistic director and chief executive of Watford Palace Theatre, said: “Throughout the pandemic WPT has put the safety of its artists, staff and audiences first.

“We have no indoor theatre in the schedule before September, having planned instead to move our focus outdoors this summer with two major projects, Imagine Watford this month and The Stage in the Park in August.

“We will review our response to the new guidance for indoor performance over the next few days, along with guidance from our colleagues at Watford Borough Council and UK Theatre.
