An animal rescue centre in Watford has celebrated its reopening with a party.

Watford’s National Animal Welfare Trust (NAWT) reopened on September 18 with a party to also celebrate its 50th birthday.

The centre was forced to close to the public for 18 months at the start of the pandemic.

Centre manager Jackie de Friez said: “We would like to say a very big thank you to everyone who came to our 50th birthday party yesterday.

“It was a lovely day and we all had so much fun. This was our first on-site event for two years and it was such a pleasure to see everyone again.

“We could not have done this without the support of you all during the last year and also the support of our volunteers who ran all the stalls for us.

“A special thank you to volunteer Robert Hunter who took these photos of the party for us.”

The reopening event raised £2,685.46 which will help the NAWT team care for the many cats, dogs, rabbits and guinea pigs currently looking for their forever homes.
