There has been a big question mark over what the latest big production at Warner Bros Studios in Leavesden is – but actor Vin Diesel seems to have teased the answer.
It’s always exciting to know that another major film is being made at our doors, and people living near the studios may be wondering what the latest project is.
Residents were told that filming at the studio backlot near Gypsy Lane footpath was taking place during the night on Wednesday (April 20), which would involve high level film lighting, use of controlled SFX involving atmos and general production filming noise.
Warner Bros Studios however told the Watford Observer it cannot reveal what was taking place at this time.
While it is not a confirmation, it’s quite a coincidence that Vin Diesel teased they were shooting “day one” of the tenth instalment of the Fast & Furious franchise on the same Wednesday.
The lead actor’s post on Instagram not only revealed that production for the final film is taking place, but that it will be titled ‘Fast X’.
KFTV, an online resource for international filming, reports that filming for the thrilling blockbuster is being based in Leavesden, meanwhile Diesel previously announced that production is in “London”.
It’s not the first time the Fast & Furious titles based its production in Leavesden, as many previous films were also created there.
The upcoming Barbie film, which is scheduled for release in 2023, has also been filming at our local studios since the end of March.
Mattel’s icon will be played by Margot Robbie and the movie will be directed by Greta Gerwig.
It’s expected to put a “contemporary spin” on the doll’s tale, and Robbie previously said it will give the audience “the thing you didn’t know you wanted”.
Whatever project the recent night shooting was for, it’s refreshing to know that the magic of these upcoming flicks took place in our neighbourhood.
