Canadian fast-food chain Tim Hortons has announced it will be opening a restaurant in Watford later this year.

The eatery, which specialises in sweet and savoury treats including its trademarked Timbits, will open at the site of the former Pizza Hut by the A41 Dome Roundabout.

It will include a restaurant and a drive-thru, as well as takeaway and delivery options, with customers able to order breakfast, lunch, and dinner options.

Some of Tim Hortons' best-loved menu items include its doughnuts and coffee, as well as its hot sandwiches, wraps and burgers.

The Observer has been reporting Tim Hortons will be coming to Watford since last summer but only today (May 19) has the chain officially announced that it'll be coming to the town.

There has been plenty of excitement for Tim Hortons' arrival, with many of our social media followers desperate to know exactly when it will be opening.

Unfortunately, the company is still being vague on exactly when its doors will open, but it has at least confirmed it will be up and running before the end of 2022.

However, today's announcement has revealed that more than 75 new jobs will be created, offering a combination of full-time and part-time roles.

Kevin Hydes, chief commercial officer of Tim Hortons franchise in the UK, said: "We’ve seen a growing demand for our brand from communities surrounding the capital, so Watford felt like the perfect location for us with its vibrant town and dynamic community.

"We pride ourselves on our fresh quality food, delivered in a convenient manner and our drive-thru restaurant will offer just that for those in the town and neighbouring areas.”

He added: "This is an incredibly exciting time for our brand as we begin to grow in and around Greater London and we will be recruiting over 75 full and part-time roles for this restaurant.

"We welcome applications from all those passionate about a career in hospitality and will be accepting applications from today via our website. We cannot wait to welcome fans and first timers to Tim Hortons in Watford later this year."
