A new Watford-centric food delivery app is launching soon to help support local businesses.

Watford Eats draws inspiration from rival apps such as Uber Eats, Deliveroo and Just Eat – but this time the local app hopes to give customers “more of the profits they truly deserve”.

The developers claim apps like Just Eat take commission of up to 33 per cent from every order placed.

As a result, the new service is said to be “run by local people, for local people” to ensure that money “stays in the local economy” and contributes towards the community and local charities.

The developers said: “Local takeaways in Watford are completely fed up with being ripped off by major food ordering apps, costing them thousands of pounds in commission paid to these companies every month.”

A launch date has not been set yet, with the developers currently in the process of enrolling as many Watford eateries as possible.
