Watford’s Korean-inspired restaurant is well worth a visit, especially if you want the option of eating balanced and healthy meals.

On Friday, August 12 at around 6.30pm my friend and I went to Grounded Kitchen to give it a try.

Neither of us could fault the food.

When we arrived, no-one was there to greet us at the door, we had to go to the counter and ask where we could sit.

However, I did see someone who appeared to work at the restaurant standing at the door when we left.

They only opened on August 11, so they are probably going through some small teething issues.

Other than this, the service was great, and the staff were friendly.

It’s part of the new wave of restaurants where you either order via an app or go to the counter.

The sleek, sophisticated décor, with two hand painted murals on the walls and soft instrumental background music was unusual for such a casual way of service, but we liked it.

It was a calming environment.

We opted for the Nourish 2 meal deal costing £31.45.

It includes two regular sized food bowls and a drink each. Based on what we ordered, we saved £3.35.

We ordered the Skin Elixir made with mango and pear drinks, which we raved over.

Honestly, sitting down to fresh drinks on a hot day, is pure perfection.

My friend, who hails from the Caribbean island of St Lucia and is used to eating fresh fruit, said: “It tastes like they used fresh mangoes, so refreshing.”

We ordered from the Bulgogi range. My friend ordered the beef, and I ordered the sweet potato and aubergine.

Each bowl comes with several ingredients, including, rice, carrots, sesame seeds, and fresh chilli.

When I ordered at the counter I asked if the meals could be made without chilli, and they said that was fine.

However, it turns out that the sweet potato was marinated, so I ended up having the chicken instead.

It had been subtly marinated and I could then taste all the different flavours of the dish.

Overall, we liked what was on offer and would go back to try more meals from the menu.

Or, you can buy a takeway meal or order on Deliveroo – the choice is yours.
