Watford’s Puttshack says “necessary actions have been taken” after a scathing review listed alleged blunders during a night out.

The “very bad experience” was posted on TripAdvisor by someone named Sharon C on August 9, following which a spokesperson for the mini golf venue responded this week.

The reviewer claimed that having asked if her group could put their bags somewhere, an “aggressive” employee said “I already asked if you wanted to put your bags somewhere didn’t I”.

She said she couldn’t believe what she witnessed before sternly saying they didn’t.

Later the main toilet door, which reportedly had no anti-swing guards, swung and trapped her finger between a tall metal bin and the handle.

“Then to top all this off, where I was sitting, eating in their expensive restaurant, I was getting water dripping on me from the air conditioning,” she said.

The reviewer goes on to claim her friend was wrongly told she could be refunded, before another employee said a refund would be granted but there would be no apology.

“I wasn’t offered anything for my bad experiences at all, just asked if I wanted to report my painful, bruised finger in the accident book,” she added.

Puttshack responded saying: “We are really sorry you did not have the great experience that is expected when visiting our venue.

“After reviewing the CCTV, we followed up with further training to our team members to make sure all communication meets our high standards.

“We have also followed up on the ladies’ door situation and relocated the bin to make sure this rare occasion will not happen again.

“We are happy to hear that you did not need ice or first aid when the team offered.”

They continued: “The AC unit you mentioned was fixed promptly and luckily we were able to offer you a different table as soon as it happened.

“Regarding your last point, we can only apologise if the invitation for a complimentary round of golf for your whole party was not satisfying enough.”

A Puttshack spokesperson added: “We strive to provide a top-notch experience for all of our guests, so it is of course extremely disappointing to hear about the rare occasions when anyone visiting us finds that things aren't up to scratch.

“We've reviewed the circumstances around this complaint in detail and have ensured that the necessary actions have been taken - both in relation to any operational shortcomings as well as the level of customer service that was received from members of our team.

“The guest was offered a complimentary round of golf by way of an apology, and we hope that any experience with us in the future will be far more positive."

The Atria Watford venue opened last December and has 12 reviews, including five ‘excellent’, three ‘very good’ and three 'average'.
