Reggae band Aswad “will not let the fans down” and still perform at Pub in the Park despite the recent death of their lead singer.

Last Friday the band confirmed that Angus ‘Drummie’ Gaye had died, following which festival organisers said they would not perform on Sunday, September 11.

However, the band, known for chart-topping hits such as Shine and Don’t Turn Around, have changed their mind in honour of the fans.

A Pub in the Park spokesperson said: “Following the passing of Aswad singer Angus ‘Drummie’ Gaye, the band and management feel that Drummie would want Aswad to perform and not let the fans down.

“They will be performing on Sunday at Pub in the Park St Albans.”

The festival will be held at Verulamium Park from September 9 to 11, with chefs showcasing their skills.

McFly, Sophie Ellis Bexter and Beverley Knight will also be performing.
