Take a look inside Lidl’s newest store that has opened following weeks of anticipation.

The shop on the corner of Prestwick Road and Oxhey Drive, South Oxhey, was unveiled yesterday (November 3) and is already getting rave reviews.

Shoppers have praised the parking, wide shopping aisles and said it will bring a sense of community back to the area.

The store is 18,800 sq ft and has 79 parking spaces split between the front and back of the shop.

Some people took to Facebook and shared their experience after visiting the store.

One woman said: “When I went into our new Lidl today in South Oxhey, I found the atmosphere in the shop was really good!

“The aisles were wide enough for people to stand to one side to stop and chat!

“Just like old times and hopefully it will bring our community back together again at long last.”

Another praised the "lovely shop and very helpful staff", while someone else commented on the store's affordable products.

She said: “Good layout, good quality, Christmas goods are 'different' and affordable.

“Car park 52 places with access to the shop entrance, 20-odd more spaces around the front in Oxhey Drive.

“If you can choose the non-busy times parking won't be a problem.”

The store is part of a £218 million scheme that will also see 345 new homes built.

While the regeneration scheme has attracted a mixed response, Lidl seems to be a win for many.

One man said: “Best thing to come out of this development was getting a Lidl.

“Helping people in South Oxhey and surrounding areas get a decent affordable shop, rather than extortionate prices at the other retailers here.”

The benefits of the store’s location is something Labour Councillor Stephen Cox is pleased with.

He said: “You can now get all your shopping in one place without going into Watford.

“I did a bit of shopping while I was there, the donuts were winking at me.

“There was a lovely flower display.”
