The founder of a community cycling initiative has been recognised for making the activity more accessible.

Cycling UK has included Kate Jenkins in its 100 Women in Cycling 2022 list.

Ms Jenkins set up the not-for-profit Watford Cycle Hub in 2012, following which she and the team have helped thousands of children and beginner adults to ride.

She said: “Cycling has been a lifelong passion for me.

“Without the Cycle Hubs' teams of staff and volunteers, we’d have not been able to help as many people share the joy I’ve found in cycling.”

She added that cycling “is the answer” to help the environment and save money on fuel. 

“Cycle Hubs help people get on their bikes,” she added.
