Community spirit was strengthened as more than 5,000 people enjoyed a family fun day at the home of Watford FC, aimed at fostering a sense of togetherness and promoting cultural exchange.
Sunday’s event was organised by Watford Muslim Youth Centre Trust in collaboration with the Hornets’ Community Sports & Education Trust and it attracted people from all backgrounds, creating an atmosphere of inclusivity and celebration.
The club’s Viacarage Road stadium was transformed into a lively hub of excitement, offering a wide range of engaging activities for all age groups.
Those attending had the opportunity to explore a variety of stalls, featuring local businesses, community organisations and cultural treats. From delicious food vendors serving tasty food to artisans showcasing their crafts, there was something for everyone.
The fun day was particularly popular among children, who relished the exciting range of inflatables and games on offer.
Footballers also had the opportunity to display their skills on the pitch, taking part in friendly matches and showcasing their passion for the sport.
The event was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Watford Muslim Youth Centre Trust, Watford FC, and numerous community partners who supported the initiative, including Watford Borough Council. Their commitment to promoting unity and fostering strong community bonds was evident throughout the day.
"As an organisation deeply rooted in the community, we are thrilled to have hosted such a successful Family Fun Day," said Zahid Zarin, chairman for Watford Muslim Youth Centre.
"Our aim was to create an environment where people from all backgrounds could come together, enjoy themselves, and strengthen the community spirit.
"The event was a testament to the power of unity and the shared values that bind us all."

The youth centre has thanked Watford FC, Watford Borough Council, Watford Police, Watford fire station, My Wellbeing W3RT, Watford Women’s Centre, Everyone Active, Abbey Badminton Club, Beezee Bodies, the community, local businesses and all the volunteers who dedicated their time and effort to make the fun day a big success.
