Watford’s Harry Potter Studio Tour has been named the UK’s most in demand tourist attraction following a study by hotel chain Premier Inn.

The list is based on how many days you need to book the attractions in advance, and is based on data from over 100 official online booking systems.

The Harry Potter Studio Tour is based in Leavesden and opened to the public in 2012.

The popular attraction requires visitors to book at least 34 days in advance.

This is has left the studio tour in the top place in the UK and in third place of the list globally.

It was beaten to the top spot globally by Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany and Machu Picchu in Peru, which hold joint first place with at least 37 days advanced bookings.

Harry Potter is one of the biggest franchises to come out of Britain in the last 30 years, with seven books, eight films in the original series and a number of spin-offs.

Other UK attractions which made the list include the Sky Garden in London, which requires 22 days advance booking, and Big Ben which you need to book eight days in advance.

The Harry Potter Studio Tour is an immersive experience for fans of the wizarding world, where you can ride broomsticks, visit Harry’s house and see all the behind the scenes of the magic.

The tour costs a minimum of £51.50 and takes at least three hours to complete, which includes a full tour of the studio, picture opportunities and a chance to ask staff about the studio.

Since opening in 2012, the studio has had many expansions as well as offering a variety of events, including the Christmas event 'Hogwarts in the Snow', which transforms the sets into a Christmas wonderland for tourists to see.

You can also try the famous drink butterbeer and browse the extensive gift shop where you can get all the Harry Potter memorabilia including wands and gowns.
