When the opening date was recently revealed on Facebook there were mixed views on the bakery chain heading to the village location.

Some have urged people to support local businesses instead.

One person said: “I am not saying don't use Wenzel’s all I am saying is when you think about making a purchase also think about that smaller business that may be working really hard to support a family, pay the expensive rent and supply a service to the village.”

However, one person expressed why the shop will be good for the area sighting the chain’s longer opening hours.

They said: “I'll use Wenzel’s if they're open when I need something. It'll beat having to drive to a larger supermarket.

“For a commuter village, where many people don't get home from work until 6pm or later, our High Street is remarkably quiet after 4/5pm. And where is open on a Sunday?”
