Stars of the West End stage will be the guests for a special one-off live event at the Watford Fringe festival which starts today.

Leading man Jon Robyns, best known for Les Miserables, Phantom Of the Opera and Hamilton; Courtney Bowman (Pretty Woman, Legally Blonde The Musical); and well respected choreographer and movement director Kate Flatt will all be sharing their backstage stories from the West End at the Watford Pump House on October 1.

The show is a live version of A Spotlight On, a new streaming service that gives viewers access to behind-the-scenes of all aspects of theatre.

The Watford Fringe is now in its seventh year and as well as A Spotlight On Live, there will be more than 70 acts taking part including a gala Ukraine fundraising concert featuring the winner of Ukraine’s The Voice, Edinburgh Fringe shows with 5* reviews, live music, ground-breaking theatre and stand-up comedy, including a show with He-de-Hi legend Jeffrey Holland.

Lee Farman, chairman of the Watford Pump House which organises the annual festival, said: “We’re delighted to be hosting such great West End names to a live version of A Spotlight On as part of this year’s Watford Fringe. We hope this will inspire audiences to check out the huge variety of performances we’ve got on offer, right on your doorstep.”

Chris Wheeler, executive producer for A Spotlight On, said: “I’m extremely excited to be launching A Spotlight On Live in my hometown as part of this year’s Watford Fringe. Growing up, the Pump House was an important part of my introduction to theatre so to be returning to the venue with this show and some of the West End’s finest talent is a real honour. There may also be a few surprises thrown in too!”

This year’s Fringe has performances spread over 17 days across several venues in Watford from today (Friday) until October 8. New for this year is a special discount offer – book four or more shows and get 50p off each ticket when booked together (selected performances only).
