This scene will be familiar to most people who know Watford but there have been a number of smaller changes to this picture since it was taken.

The Watford Observer is delighted to share pictures from the archive at Watford Museum and this week we recall this view of the Harlequin Centre.

The museum's volunteer archivist Christine Orchard said: "Views that we believe remain unchanged often alter in subtle ways.

"This familiar scene of the shopping centre entrance at the corner of Queens Road and High Street was taken when it was known as the Harlequin.

"For a number of years, it's bright white turret has been a darker colour, McDonald's have changed their colour scheme, and the telephone box no longer exists, even the street lights will have changed.

"The centre itself has change too, having been known as INTU and now Atria."
