Watford Food Court licence and planned road closures

Hello Watford Food Court is seeking a premises licence from Watford Borough Council for the vacant unit in Gade House, The Parade, previously occupied by The Twin Flame bar and grill restaurant.

These signs were outside the proposed new eatery last month. (Image: Newsquest) According to signs previously placed outside, the outlet will offer "a unique international food experience" and vendors were being sought to provide food for when it opens.

Details of the application have been published in the Public Notice Portal, which is used to access upcoming and recent information about various restrictions and applications.

The portal has also been used by Herts County Council to publish details of planned road closures in the Watford area to allow works to be carried out.

All temporary closure orders and other restrictions are valid for up to 18 months from the date they come into force, but restrictions will only apply at times shown on signs at or near the relevant locations.

Here are five notices we’ve rounded up which could affect people in the Watford area.

High Street, Watford – premises licence

A planned new eatery in The Parade has applied for a premises licence.

Watford F&B Services Ltd has applied to Watford Borough Council for the licence in respect of the premises to be known as Hello Watford, Gade House, 46 The Parade, High Street, Watford WD17 1AY.

The proposed licensable activities are:

Opening hours: Sunday to Thursday: 9am to 11pm; Friday and Saturday: 9am to 1pm.

Retail sale of alcohol on and off premises only: Sunday to Thursday: 11am to 11pm; Friday and  Saturday: 11am to 1am.

Anyone wishing to make representations should do so in writing to Watford Licensing Authority, Town Hall, Watford WD17 3EX or by email to licensing@watford.gov.uk by no later than May 14, 2025.

Various roads, Abbots Langley and Watford – temporary closures

Herts County Council is intending to make an order to prohibit vehicles from using the following lengths of road, except for access, and to prohibit vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of the roads while works are carried out:

- Abbots Road, Abbots Langley from its junction with Parsonage Close south westwards for a distance of approximately 258m.

- Parsonage Close, Abbots Langley from its junction with Abbots Road north eastwards, north westwards and south eastwards for its entire length.

- Armand Close, Watford from its junction with Nascot Wood Road north eastwards, north westwards and south eastwards for its entire length.

Colne Way, Watford – temporary traffic measures

The county council is intending to make an order, the effect of which will be:

- To prohibit all vehicles from using Colne Way, Watford from its junction with Woodmere Avenue north westwards for a distance of approximately 12m, except for access.

- The existing one-way traffic system in Colne Way, from its junction with Woodmere Avenue north westwards to its junction with Tudor Avenue, a distance of approximately 272m, will be temporarily suspended to enable all vehicles to travel in both directions within this length of road, whilst works are in progress.

This order, if made, will come into force on May 15 and it is needed for utility service works to  be carried out.

Estcourt Road, Watford - temporary closure

An order is set to be made to temporarily close Estcourt Road, Watford from its junction with Gartlet Road south westwards for a distance of approximately 17m, except for access, to allow utility service works to be carried out.

If made, this order will come into force on May 12.

A411 southbound slip road, Watford - temporary closure

Herts County Council is intending to make an order to prevent vehicles from using the A411 southbound slip road leading onto A411 Waterfields Way, Watford from its junction with A4008 Stephenson Way south westwards and south eastwards to its junction with A411 Waterfields Way, a distance of approximately 169m, to allow works to be carried out.

This order, if made, will come into force on May 12.
