The Southern Cross pub in Watford 'reopening soon'

The Southern Cross in Langley Road has been shut since February 26, with then operators Greene King saying that it would be a permanent closure.

However, pictures shared with the Watford Observer Camera Club appear to bring good news for punters, with signage reading "opening soon" appearing outside the boozer.

It appears to have been taken over by a company called Everest, although its intentions for the site have not been confirmed.

News of its closure first came at the end of January, with Greene King claiming that it was not an easy to decision and “multiple factors” were considered.

A spokesperson said: “We are aware that this will be disappointing news to the local community and our loyal customers and would like to thank those who have enjoyed visiting us over the years."

When the pub closed, several readers expressed concerns over the future of the site and speculated that it could be turned into a car park.

No information has been shared on exactly when it will reopen after changing hands.
