Work appears close to completion on a new Lidl store on the edge of Watford.
An opening date appears imminent for the supermarket, which has taken over the former World of Water site off the A41 near Hunton Bridge.
Work began last autumn, with new pictures shared via the Watford Observer Camera Club showing that Lidl signage is now fully in place and opening hours are listed.
This would appear to suggest that the store is close to opening, with the retailer previously saying that it was earmarked for a summer 2026 arrival.
Quirky signs stating “we’re cracking on with your new store” have also been put up on the hoarding.

Speaking when work began, a Lidl spokesperson said: “Demand for our high quality, affordable products is continuing to grow throughout the capital and we're delighted to be progressing our plans to bring a Lidl new store to Abbots Langley.
“We'd like to take this opportunity to thank shoppers for their patience while our team works to deliver this new store, and we look forward to updating the community further in due course.”
Lidl first submitted plans in 2022, but access concerns delayed its progress. Multiple rounds of amendments and two deferrals were needed before Three Rivers District Council approved the scheme.
