Farce is the bread and butter of many an am dram society and the late comedy scriptwriter Dave Freeman’s A Bedfull of Foreigners, which Ruislip Dramatic Society brings to the Compass Theatre this month, is as saucy as it gets.

As well as writing sketches for Tony Hancock and Arthur Askey, Dave co-wrote episodes of the sitcom Terry and June with Greg Freeman and was a long-term writer for Benny Hill. He also wrote screenplays for several Carry On films.

Packed with puns and double entendres, A Bedfull of Foreigners, is set in a rundown hotel in a quiet French village near the German border and features double-booked rooms, mistaken identities and hasty dives into the closet.

The show runs from November 18-21 , 7.45pm at the Compass Theatre, Glebe Avenue, Ickenham. Tickets: 01895 673200, www.ruislipdramatic.org (£9-£10)
