Four horses were loose on a busy road in Radlett on Thursday afternoon (February 28).

Concerned passers-by called 999 after they saw the animals free in the middle of Grange Lane.

Police were called at 2.36pm and officers arrived on the scene shortly before 3pm.

People said they saw the horses running around near Letchmore Heath, and there were worries they were heading towards the nearby town of Radlett.

Police believe they came from nearby Sandy Lane and they were caught at about 4.15pm.

A police spokeswoman said they have no idea how the horses got out, and no road users or horses were injured.
