PCC's chief executive Andrew White resigns

Chief executive Andrew White has stepped down the £123,000 role having previously held the same post in the Police Authority.

Members of Hertfordshire’s Police and Crime Panel were told last Monday (February 25) of the departure - which comes just two weeks after Dr Rachel Frosh stepped down as deputy commissioner.

Mr White, who has been instrumental in putting together David Lloyd’s first budget and the police and crime plan, said he had been planning his departure for some time but stayed to ensure a smooth transition .

He said: "I had the intention to move on before the election but I decided it would be a bad time and would have left the commissioner in the lurch.

"He has hit the ground running more than almost any other commissioner.

"I think in David you have one of the most ambitious commissioners in the country and his plan shows he really understands what this role entails."

"The role is completely different to the police authority and the pace of life has changed significantly but having the clarity the commissioner brings with him has been a delight.

"The people that work with me here are good people and they will continue to support him."

Police and Crime Commissioner David Lloyd also hailed his departing chief executive who held the same role at the Hertfordshire Police Authority for six years.

Mr Lloyd said: "I have known for some while that he felt it was time to put another structure in place.

"He thought it through and recognised that the role had changed significantly but he bided his time and got me through the first budget and police crime plan.

"He is moving on and he has done it in a very selfless way, he recognises that the role has changed entirely.

"Of course I am sad to see him go, he has really helped so much in this handover.

"We part on the best of terms and he has done a very great deal for policing in the county."

Mr White will continue in the role until April 1, a successor is expected to have been announced by then.
