Dacorum’s new mayor has pledged to make his year in office "as memorable as possible."
Councillor Allan Lawson took over from councillor Penny Hearn on Wednesday, May 28 as Mayor of Dacorum.
After being elected, councillor Lawson said: "I am greatly honoured that my fellow councillors have placed their trust in me by electing me as mayor of this fabulous borough for the coming year."
The Conservative councillor has chosen The Chilterns Multiple Sclerosis Centre as his mayoral charity.
He added: "When I visited the centre I was deeply impressed by the range of care and services the centre provides to people with this dreadful disease with no known cause or cure
"I was surprised to learn of the high number of people across the borough with the disease."
