Balloons went up in Cassiobury Park at the weekend to remind Watford people of the atomic bombs that were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki 36 years ago.
Children released the balloons at a peace picnic organised by the Watford branch of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament.
The campaigners were following up an earlier demonstration when hundreds marched on the top secret Nato command centre at Northwood.
