Thieves stole hundreds of pounds from a pensioner’s bank account after stealing her bank card in a Watford car-park.
The 77-year-old woman was approached in the Lower High Street Tesco car park between 11am and 11.45am on Saturday by a couple holding a map and asking for directions to Cambridge.
After helping the couple, the pensioner got into her car before the man opened the passenger door to check the directions.
As he did, he swiped her bank card from her purse, police said.
Hundreds of pounds were later withdrawn from the woman’s bank account, officers told the Observer.
The man is described as clean shaven with greying brown hair, and the woman had distinctive streaky blonde and brown hair.
Police said the couple were both in their late twenties or early thirties, and are believed to be of Eastern European descent.
