The Watford Observer, in association with intu Watford, asked you to nominate and vote for for the town’s most heroic residents.
There was a superb response from you with more than 2,000 votes cast for our eleven heroes.
We are now proud to announce that the winner is...
Rio Woolf
Rio Woolf was born without a tibia, knee or ankle joint due to a rare condition called tibial aplasia.
His leg was amputated when he was 14 months old and his NHS prosthetic limb was so heavy it dragged behind him when he tried to run after his friends in the playground.
Rio's mum Juliette said: "Rio will be absolutely over the moon and very excited. We had so much support on Facebook and Twitter, and some lovely comments from people who don't know him.
"This has also been great for promoting children with different abilities and Rio is a great ambassador for child amputees.
"All the other candidates were very worthy."
All eleven competitors should be incredibly proud, the people who nominated you were extremely kind about your heroic actions.
Rio will turn on intu Watford’s Christmas lights on November 20.
