The members of the Five Ways Friends clubs have raised more than £450 in a Comic Relief challenge by organising fundraising activities including raffles and cake sales.

Caro Hart, director of health and wellbeing, said: "This is a fantastic achievement for the members - they should be very proud of themselves, a lot of work and effort was put into the challenge.

"One member, Grace Donald, made an astonishing ten cakes to sell and they literally went like hot cakes."

In total the groups raise £456.24, with this year’s Comic Relief challenge winners announced as the members of the Leavesden Green Community Hub club for raising £113.10.

Five Ways Friends health and wellbeing clubs are held every week day at a number of community centres and halls throughout Watford and Three Rivers.

The clubs, which are organised by Watford & Three Rivers Trust, offer older members and residents of the local community, an opportunity to get out of the house, meet people and enjoy and take part in a wide range of activities.
