Head torches beamed through a dark March sky as more than 100 fundraisers braved the cold, wind and mud for the Push It Night Run, the first sponsored night time obstacle race for Peace Hospice Care.

But despite freezing temperatures, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming and supportive onlookers cheered on the runners urging them to grit their teeth and keep going.

The two mile mission may have been tough, but the celebrations and sense of the achievement at the finishing line were tremendous.

Hilary Lythgoe, who took part in the event with a 40 strong team from British Military Fitness, said: “I survived mud, wind, water and bitter temperatures and the obstacles tested me to the limits but it was really great fun.

“I felt a great sense of achievement. I have already signed up for the Rainbow Run and Push it for the Peace and would urge anyone to get involved in future events for the hospice.”

The Push It Night Run looks set to have raised more than £8,000 for Peace Hospice Care.
