THOUSANDS of people are expected to attend a Festival of Colours, to celebrate the start of spring today (Sunday).

The celebrations will be held at Bhaktivedanta Manor Hare Krishna temple in Aldenham and will also mark the combined full moon festivals of Holi and Gaura Purnima.

Throughout the day, traditional dramas and dances will be staged in front of the temple's shrine, while thousands of free vegetarian meals will be served prior to the throwing of colours'.

The festival begins at 7.30pm today.
