There is just one week left to register to vote and the council are teaming up with the Electoral Commission to remind everyone.
The deadline for registration is midnight on Monday, April 20 and Hertsmere Borough Council are working with the elections watchdog on their national campaign to try and ensure people do not miss out.
Jo Bateman, our Principal Electoral Services Officer, said: "We don't want anyone in Hertsmere to miss out on having their say on polling day, so urge anyone not registered to vote to go online and get registered - it should only take around five minutes."
Electoral Commission research indicates that recent home movers, young people, students and those from certain black and minority ethnic communities are all less likely to be registered to vote.
The Commission’s campaign aims to let people know that everyone can now easily apply to register online; this is the first general election where this has been possible.
You can register through our website or by visiting www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
If you are unsure if you are registered to vote or want a hard copy of the application forms to register to vote by post or proxy, call 020 8207 7481 or email elections@hertsmere.gov.uk.
