A Watford cadet has won Herts Constabulary cadet of the year award.

Charlotte Halls was recognised for her remarkable contribution to her unit, demonstrating willingness and commitment in all aspects of their duties.

Charlotte has been a cadet in Watford for over a year. Judges said she is a productive and progressive member of the team and her aptitude and willingness set a great example to other cadets.

At the awards, held at Police Headquarters on Thursday, June 4, family and friends were told Charlotte had identified vulnerability in other cadets and helped them to deal with issues in a sensitive way, approaching leaders and informing them of her concerns, showing excellent communication skills and real concern for others.

Charlotte has spent much of her time working with the Watford community, attending public events such as Safer Streets, community sporting events and recruitment.

Judges said she has helped to raise the profile of the cadets and the police, highlighting the core competencies and how they achieve them.

Speaking at the awards, Chief Constable Andy Bliss said: "It is an absolute pleasure to have the chance to thank our dedicated volunteers and give them the recognition they deserve for giving up their free time and also the commitment they contribute to the force.

"Volunteers are a vital part of the police family who work alongside our officers and staff, and together we are reducing crime, catching criminals and keeping the people of Hertfordshire safe."
