A hotel in Watford is using produce grown in a homelessness charity's community garden.
Staff at Holiday Inn Watford Junction shared a celebratory lunch with Elected Mayor Dorothy Thornhill made with the vegetables grown in New Hope’s Community Market Garden.
Mayor Thornhill said: "Watford is a town that sets precedence and leads by example.
"This partnership between the hotel and New Hope is a first. The young people I met at the Holiday Inn are full of potential and very motivated – people who will help Watford become the place its visitors deserve."
Spinach, chives and lettuce are just three products of the New Hope Community Market Garden that have been purchased by the Holiday Inn on Clarendon Road to serve in their restaurant.
Ian Bond, community market garden supervisor at New Hope, said: "Through this venture our service users have already been able to see how their hard work can produce great results.
"The seeds that they have sown, that they have watered and nurtured into life will be eaten and enjoyed by all sorts in the hotel’s restaurant."
The hotel's staff room has also been kitted out with items sourced from the three New Hope charity shops to create a relaxing and homely feel.
