Seven weeks of roadworks to take place in major town centre thoroughfare.
Works to the cycleway in Market Street, carried out by Ringway on behalf of Hertfordshire County Council, will begin on Monday, September 7.
The £110,000 scheme will take seven weeks to complete, using 24 hour traffic management and a full road closure of Market Street between 8pm and 5am from September 21.
Clarendon Road and High Street will also be closed during these times due to the one way system.
A signed alternative route will be in place but access to properties and businesses may be disrupted.
Terry Douris, cabinet member for Highways, said: “These works form part of Hertfordshire County Council's on-going commitment to maintain and improve our roads for the benefit of all road users in Hertfordshire.
"We appreciate that these works are likely to cause some inconvenience to motorists and would ask everyone for their co-operation and patience while the work is in progress.”
The work is weather dependent and from time to time unforeseen circumstances can arise and work may continue outside the advertised hours.
Any changes to the proposed start date, duration or working hours will be announced on the information boards on site and will be available at http://hertfordshire.roadworks.org/.
