I don’t know about you but there’s always a zillion things I want to do, experience, challenge, defeat and conquer?  I’m pretty good at starting which is the important part. I’ve partly written three books, I partly play guitar, I partly have a body like Beyoncé…I’ll let you know when I’ve found what part, but you get the drift huh?........

By the natural way that we talk there’s almost this automatic sense within us that we have all the time in the world, but it’s just a false habitual pattern of thinking …one that can be broken though, just say the word.  How many of us talk about doing something next week?  Next year?  When the weathers warmer?  When our health’s improved?  When we have more confidence?  Why do we talk ourselves out of starting today? What if today’s all you had? & how do you know it’s not?

Don’t worry I’m not the Friday Grim Reaper about to tap you on the shoulder; I’m just saying that the only thing blocking us from new experiences and challenges is us. How many of us after attending someones funeral suddenly hear the screeching of breaks as our own mortality skids up to the forefront of our thoughts, there’s that sense of urgency within us, that inner head voice like a boot camp leader scolding us to get going, and for a few days, maybe a week, we promise ourselves that we will …….only we don’t. Now at this point, you’re either sitting there nodding in agreement because this happens to you too? …or you’re thinking what the hell did this Woman have with her Cornflakes this Morning?

Well one woman taking up a-helleva challenge is my step-mother Kate. With her 70th Birthday looming next year she has decided to take the 7 day Lemosho route to the top of Kilimanjaro, hoping to summit on the 26th September In aid of two very underfunded Charities Invest In ME http://www.investinme.org/  & The National Osteoporosis Society www.nos.org.uk/  she’s never attempted anything like this before and has been in training for the past 18 months. However I’m never really surprised by her and my father’s antics, they live life how it should be lived, each day to the brim  always willing to try new things, gathering with family and friends and always helping others. Just laSt year Kate who's an Elvis fan managed to persuade dad to fly to Vegas to renew their wedding vows for their 25th wedding anniversary at the Little White Chapel.  As for Kates Kilimountjaro trek If you fancy making a donation these are the two pages. I'll give you an update in a few weeks.

In M.E news we’re gearing up for  “Give It UPtober”

During the month of October we are encouraging people with or without M.E. to give up one luxury and donate the money saved to Invest in ME Research,  Who have a strategy for research and are working so hard on behalf of people with M.E. to find the cause / cure. Every penny donated goes to Biomedical Research in M.E. as the charity is run by volunteers.  Having already given up everything due to M.E, I’m going to have to think hard about this one, but I’m sure there must be something…Coffee maybe? Although I better warn my poor mother of the possible consequences. So could you give something up?

In local news and an update on the Muzicmeets event https://www.facebook.com/Muzicmeet last week, their very first Haresfoot Folkfest helping to raise awareness and funds for  Hectors House, a Suicide prevention & crisis help resource. http://www.hectorshouse.org.uk/ . It was a very successful night attended by  well over a 100 people, raising £785.40 and  £256.40 from the raffle. Pictured is Luke Tuchscherer just one of many local talented musicians performing, others included  Minnie Birch , Tinlin, Emma Mcgrath,  and the impressive list just went on, so much so there’s already talk of a Folkfest 2 .

Lastly, I challenge you to challenge yourself to do something, anything, no matter your age and no matter how big or small, and if you want some online motivation and someone showing support then just get in contact and I’ll do my best to be that inner boot Camp voice to cheer you on. One of my fave songs is this little  jazzy, blues, swing type ditty by Ethan Lipton & orchestra “Song Inside You” with the line “Don’t Go With Your Song Still Inside you, let it guide you everyday”  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQFFbKxhYYU  & on that note….                                                          Til Next Week, Stay Blessed
