Some drive, others do DIY, some tend the flowers, prepare tea for patients or sort donations - one even dresses as a furry bear.

But whatever their task or skill, the work of Peace Hospice Care’s 603 volunteers was honoured in a night of celebration and thanks.

Hosted by the hospice, praise was given to its committed volunteer workforce and awards were presented to several exceptional individuals.

Peace Hospice Care chief executive, Declan Carroll, said: "An incredible 603 volunteers all give their time, heart and a much appreciated contribution to the charity.

"We recognize their work and their loyalty and commitment to Peace Hospice Care. We thank each and every one of them."

Award winners included community volunteer winner Herbie Kern, young peoples award winners Georgia Anderton, Rickie Jones, Bradley Pfeiffer, Gabby Codrington, Erin Veith, unsung hero/heroine winner Peter Mitchell-Jubb, lifetime achievement winner Dennis Grass and special recognition winners Garston Shop Volunteers and Erin Greenaway.
